Ce n’est pas la première fois que Grohl parle d’Eilish. En 2019, s’adressant au PDG de Live Nation, Michael Rapino, lors de la conférence Pollstar Live, il a loué l’authenticité d’Eilish et sa capacité à se connecter avec son public, affirmant que cela lui rappelait ce que Nirvana avait vécu avec ses fans en 1991.

“Mes filles sont obsédées par Billie Eilish”, a expliqué Grohl. « Et ce que je vois arriver avec mes filles, c’est la même révolution qui m’est arrivée à leur âge. Mes filles écoutent Billie Eilish et elles deviennent elles-mêmes à travers sa musique.

Grohl a également noté que bien que certaines personnes ne considèrent pas Eilish comme une musicienne de rock en soi, son son porte la même essence rebelle que le rock.

“Sa musique est difficile à définir”, a déclaré Grohl, selon une transcription de ses propres remarques qu’il a publiée sur Twitter. « Je ne sais même pas comment l’appeler. Mais c’est authentique. Et j’appellerais ça du rock ‘n’ roll… Je me fiche du genre d’instruments que vous utilisez pour le faire. Grohl a également déclaré à The Independent qu’il était un grand fan d’un groupe prometteur dont le son s’aligne mieux sur l’idée traditionnelle du rock – le duo britannique Wet Leg.
