L.D. Sidorova. V.V. Maslovskiy — The Father Of Medical Dynasty. Saratov Journal of Medical Scientific Research, 2009, vol. 5, No. 3, p. 450-454.

Biographic data about professor V.V. Maslovskiy that reflect his scientific and practical contribution to the development of nativ morphology have been presented in the article.

In the fourth building of the medical university on the second floor there is a museum. Every time when I am at department of anatomy, I come here and I stop near one exhibit. The laconic inscription on it says: "Brain of professor V.V. Maslovsky". Before death he bequeathed to its museum departments. My grandfather, the doctor of medical sciences Vladimir Vadimovich Maslovsky, died on February 9, 1935. He was only 45 years old...

I was born much later his death. But according to stories by the family, grandfather's colleagues, according to his scientific works and letters I represent what it was the extraordinary person: erudite, not indifferent, sensitive. Its scientific activity strikes with range width. It conducted serious researches in the field of anatomy, anthropology and forensic medicine.

In April, 1926 on the instructions of Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of Academy of Sciences of the USSR it studied the Crimean caves for collecting material on a paleoanthropology and paleontology. Its scientific articles in which there are a lot of opening and new views on habitual medical concepts and the phenomena are one by one printed. He received degree of the doctor of medical sciences on set of the scientific works. Article was a result of its scientific activity: "To the doctrine about the systems of an organism", published already posthumously.

In it the critical analysis of definition of systems of an organism offered by P.F. Lesgaft, Brau-som, V.P. Vorobyov is given, own classification is stated.

It is better for colleagues anatomists to judge it its scientific contribution to medicine, maybe, which is not completely valued according to the merits. I want to tell about it as about the person in high understanding of it of words.

In the childhood I lived in the room which served the grandfather as an office. I remember long lines of cases with medical literature, books by great world writers. Shakespeare, Byron, Hugo, Oscar Wilde, Kipling, Jack London, Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoyevsky. With delight I read Pushkin, Lermontov, Nikitin, Tyutchev's verses.

Many editions were in original language. The grandfather masterfully used Latin, German, French, Italian, and shortly before death began to learn Spanish. The love for literature and music was not accidental. The Decembrist-historian Alexander Osipovich Kornilo-vich was his maternal great-grandfather. He was a member of "Free society of fans of the Russian word", issued the almanac "Russkaya Starina" together with the member of secret society Sukhorukov, wrote several historical stories.

In 1825 A. Kornilovich was accused of participation in the Southern society and spent 9 years in prison of the Peter and Paul Fortress. Here he wrote several articles concerning the administrative device of Russia, economy, trade, to military science. Its records were studied not only by ministers, but also Nicholas I who consulted with the convict concerning history more than once.

V.V. Maslovsky's grandfather A. Saburov was a Minister of Education at Alexander II, and from the father Maslovsky the ancestors were officers and were involved in the Crimean war. In the Sevastopol stories Leo Tolstoy mentions officers brothers Maslovka.

The grandfather got an education classical. He ended the Kiev gymnasium. Approximately in at one time with him future writers Konstantin Paustovsky and Mikhail Bulgakov studied. In the story "Far Years" Paustovsky told about the gymnasia teachers who gave to the pets profound knowledge, taught to think, developed imagination.

In 1915 the grandfather graduated from medical faculty of the Kiev university and was called up for military service to a position of the medical officer.

On fronts of World War I he honestly fulfilled the professional duty, saved wounded, worked also in typhus barracks.

After the revolution of 7 years worked at medical faculty of the Crimean university, giving lectures on the course "Anatomy with Fundamentals of Anthropology". In September, 1925 it was elected the junior assistant to department of normal anatomy of the Saratov university, and in 1930 it was approved as her manager.

These years the reorganization of the higher education began. Medical faculties of the country were allocated from the structure of the universities and acquired the status of institutes. In hard work on creation of medical institute in Saratov uncommon organizing and economic qualities of V.V. Maslovsky were also shown. The high working ability, resolute persistence and will of the head helped to reconstruct at department of anatomy training programs at short notice, to increase the volume of the academic work, to considerably expand the museum and library.

Despite severity and irreconcilability to shortcomings, Maslovsky was sensitive and sostradatelen to the employees. The friend of our family, the research associate of department V.V. Khlebnikov told that their manager always shared the rations put to him as to professor with employees gave the permits to sanatoria. "Time was hungry, but Vladimir Vadimovich always was near us, supported by what could, shared everything. it had even no winter coat, and it needed it: it had sore lungs".

About the grandfather's relation to the work it is possible to judge by the reference of the chairman of local committee of professor M.P. Kutanin: "... All last years professor Maslovsky from morning to late evening did not leave walls of medical institute. Despite serious condition of health, even hypostases, till last days conducted the research work". Colleagues remembered that the head of a chair because of sore heart could not rise by the second floor quickly. Having passed several steps, sat down to recover the breath.

The letter of my father, then the second-year student which remained in our family is curious. He wrote the mother who is in Moscow: "... Most interesting it turned out with anatomy. I hand over the subject "Brain" to professor. There was it so. I and my companion Kolya crammed a brain in a dissecting room, nearby professor was engaged in the work. We left to smoke. But here professor appeared and indignantly told: "What for a disgrace? Why you are not engaged?" We began to justify ourselves, but he wrote down our surnames and told that exam at us will be personally held by him".

Telling about this episode, the father always smiled: "Went to hand over anatomy seven times. But knew it best of all in group". Listening to the father, I, then the child, thought what strict was the grandfather. Over time understood that it was not just the severity, and high

responsibility for knowledge of the student and immense love for medicine: the anatomy was for it a shrine, and any neglect to it caused in it hot indignation.

But the grandfather was not the such room scientist who for the sake of science forgot about the world surrounding him. Its interests were many-sided. He loved music, especially the composer Brahms. In its home library there were compositions of Ancient Greek philosophers, Russian historians: Solovyyova, Kostomarova, Karamzin whom he quite often addressed.

at me the novel by Victor Hugo "Outcast" remained from the grandfather. Recently turned over it and found the whole paragraphs emphasized with multi-colored pencils. There were they in chapters retreats in which the great writer reflected on various subjects of human life. These marks were made by the grandfather. He was interested in Hugo's thoughts of religion, ways of distribution of terrestrial riches, brainwork, communism, poverty, about love. When I read emphasized, it seemed to me that not Hugo, but the grandfather talked to me: these reasonings with his way of life, its affairs and acts were so in consonance.

The grandfather deeply and gently loved the family. Carefully I store several his letters to the wife. The first belongs to February, 1916. It is full sincere glad

st and awes of the young wife. And in the subsequent letters — there are a lot of tender words and deep care of the wife and children. From them it is visible that he undertook all difficulties of life. Sent the wife and daughters at the sea in the summer or rented it near Saratov the dacha, and itself worked and was engaged in economy. His letters were the report on made: "Transported things on the new apartment", "Agreed that cooked raspberry and currant jam", "Bought two kegs for a pickles of cucumbers and cabbage", "Olechka is waited by the book "Little school students", "Our kitten grew up and became fluffy".

He lived only forty five years. It is not enough by the standards of human life. But if to estimate the years lived by it on affairs, then his life will be incredibly long. The family dynasty of physicians in which there are already 4 generations began with it.

His oldest daughter Olga came to the Saratov medical institute when she was only fifteen years old. In selection committee did not want to take its documents as its social status did not conform to requirements of time. It was told: "If you find two workers who will want to study at us, we will accept also you". Olga went to the plant and finished two young people. They studied well, became quite good doctors, and one of them even became a professor.

Olga graduated from the institute with the diploma with honors, worked in clinic of professor O.S. Parsamov. During the Great Patriotic War left on the front,

worked in many field hospitals, reached Berlin. She was awarded with awards of Patriotic war, the Red star, many medals. Got demobilize in the captain's rank.

After war Olga worked as the obstetrician-gynecologist in clinics of Saratov, taught at medical institute at department of professor A.M. Foya, and then became the regional obstetrician-gynecologist, having created strong security service of motherhood and the childhood in the area. Many years she did difficult operations, saved, apparently, hopeless patients.

On its feet also I went, her daughter. Defended the dissertation, was entitled the associate professor, I work at department of obstetrics and gynecology of FPK and PPS of our medical university.

My son Evgeny Sidorov is a doctor of higher category, the anesthesiologist him appreciate, cause to the aid at the most hard cases. Recently during the most difficult operation Evgeny ran risks and made, apparently, impossible. The doctors and nurses who are present at the operating room applauded to it

My daughter Olga Sergeyeva is obstetrician-gynecologist, works at department of the medical university. Her eldest son studies in lyceum at the medical university.

Patients and colleagues have to estimate our work. But we inherited love for medicine, devotion and enthusiasm for the business from the grandfather. And every time, happening in the museum of the university or on its grave, I mentally say: Thank you!"
