Voytikov S.S. Trotsky and a plot in the Red Rate. M.: Veche, 2009. - 352 pages

On June 15, 1919 the highest military head of the Soviet Russia and the member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of Bolshevik party Trotsky said to members of the Central Committee: "We begin to experiment - with a mischief shade - in the field of the Rate. The American wisdom in general recommends not to change from a horse to a horse when you move through a fast stream". So with significant verbosity peculiar to it the Minister of Defence characterized a situation with arrest of the Commander-in-chief of all armed forces of the Republic Jehoiakim Vatsetis.

The book by Sergey Voytikov "Trotsky and a plot in the Red Rate" also tells about it.

The book represents historical investigation of one of the most mysterious episodes of the Soviet military-political history - an anti-Bolshevist plot in the Field headquarters of Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic. At the beginning of July, 1919 the commander-in-chief Vatsetis was arrested. For the company with it - about ten his closest employees. In this mysterious, drama episode sources at once of several problems - military, political, moral are. Problems over which historians puzzle the last 15-20 years.

Events of a plot trace the roots back in 1918 - "dark ages" of the Soviet history which gravestone on study was put by the academician I.I. Mintz the work "the 1918th Year" (M., 1982). Though Lenin, the founder of Bolshevik Party, during this period also remained her real leader, under it the chair of the chairman of Council of People's Commissars several times was unsteady. And the question of the power at that time was a question of life. In August, 1918, after shots Kaplan, Trotsky was praised to high heaven. He already considered himself "the organizer of the October revolution" and "the founder of the Red Army". Now his authority in party began to compete with Ilyich's authority really. Such situation could not suit Lenin in any way - the most severe race for power in a Bolshevist top broke out. Its echoes were heard up to the end of 1920

In those events companion Stalin - the worthy pupil of Lenin also found the first experience of conducting secret fight. Cheka began to get stronger, fight for control over everyone and everything though the companion Dzerzhinsky also could not imagine to what unprecedented repressive power the device created by it to the middle of the 1930th will expand...

In the book bonapartistsky plans of Trotsky are opened. Are presented to the reader the identity of the commander-in-chief Vatsetis and "a collective portrait" of employees of the Field headquarters of PB CP in November, 1918 - July, 1919. The mechanism of adoption by the top Bolshevist management of the decision on "cleaning" of the Red Rate and the course of arrests of "conspirators" is opened. Lenin and Trotsky - as leaders, politicians and strategists are opposed. It is told about the fate of the arrested genshtabist. Trotsky's reaction to arrests of his subordinates and influence of "matter" on alignment of forces in the Politburo and Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic is shown.

The book is based on hitherto not the known documents trekhkh archives - the Russian State Archive of Socio-political History (RSASPH), the Russian State Military of Archive (RSMA) and the Central Archive of Social and Political History of Moscow (CASPHM).

In a form this book - popular scientific. In the best meaning of this phrase. The factual thoroughness and reliability, good "outgaming" of documents are combined with vivacity, fascination of the narration, bright images of real participants of that historical drama. Especially for the readers seeking to get an own impression, to come to own, original conclusions the book it is supplied with the thorough documentary application.

Sergey Voytikov, the graduate of Historical and archival institute of RGGU - the historian young. But the first book he declared himself very loudly. And as the true archivist capable to find documents which to nobody before has the luck to find. And as the thoughtful researcher deprived of weakness for the cheap and attracted sensation zaush. And as the author trying to write not for one himself, not for "scientific community", and for the mass reader who is interested in the past of Russia so - not indifferent to its future.

The MISSED SHIROKORAD'S CHANCE,

OR WHITE BUSINESS AND ITS EXPOSURE

History - piece entertaining and instructive. Also attracts, interests all who ponder upon the past who aspires or at least have unconscious draft to understand why Russia, and also he (she) together with it, lives now quite so, but not differently.

It is possible to be interested in history, to study it differently. It is possible to read historical novels - very well-pleasing occupation, especially if they are written by the gifted writers "shipped" in the past, but not graphomaniacs with violent imagination from scratch. And if about Civil war, about the White movement - it is even more entertaining and more useful to read memoirs. Dozens of officers of the former white armies left so bright, figurative, fascinating narrations about endured that to many current writers oh how far to them (confirmation to that is the sunk into oblivion series of novels "White Movement" which was issued Astrel publishing house), It is possible to rise a step above - to lean on popular scientific literature (only historians good much, and "readably" writing among them - disappointingly are not enough). And it is possible, having gained some knowledge base, to undertake also scientific works ("capital" as were expressed in "historical community" of Soviet period).

But it is possible, as it turned out, and in a different way to be interested in history: at once to write about it, about history.

A successful example of a similar way - popular scientific books on military history on which cover the author specified Alexander Shirokorad.

The dispersion of interests and recklessly courage with what the author of reference books on artillery and the author of the books on the history of the Russian fleet which are looking like reference books grabs plots of various "systems" and "calibers" is broad. They do not concede pantophagy of the reader forced to shiver two-three of hours in the suburban electric train or to pine in the waiting room of the station at all. In his books gallop eras, the people, the states, wars, monarchs, ministers, generals, admirals, Cossacks, ancient Lithuanians, batyeva Tatars rush. And on-hlestakovski thoughtlessly, with "ease in thoughts unusual", to everyone and everything pronounces sentences. Degree of their "justice" directly depends on the fact that for compositions on "the chosen subject" hit the author hands. That did not please there is no care. As well as other suppliers on the book market long ago of the revealed "secrets" and "sensations" made out of thin air, A. Shirokorad does not feel distinction meya? du scientific and opposite to it, between the facts and conjectures, between "a historical fantasy" within common sense and nonsense outside it.

The style of its work is appreciated for a long time. Most correct "certification" of his books: "the compilations which are hammered together quick". Also other estimates - but they, of course, not for the scientific magazine come across. Characteristic, signature, signs of author's style: the plentiful citing and retelling of someone else's books "borrowed" from the same books of the footnote, lightness and pretentiousness of suyaedeniye, abundance of the actual mistakes, ignorance concerning the majority of sources and literature on a subject.

The next book by A. Shirokorad - about the general P.N. Wrangel - "is hammered together" to the same manners.

Here it is a high time to ask a question, than the last commander-in-chief of the Russian army provoked author's attention to himself -

attention which to admit, neither devoted admirers of Wrangel, nor his most tendentious critics will call flatter. God knows... The Russian history "for Shirokorad" is not imaginable without pillories. For example, he to a nichtozha sumnyashchesya nailed the chancellor of the Russian Empire A.M. Gorchakov to one (A.B. Shirokorad Russia - England: unknown war, 1857-1907. M, 2003). Now this bowl is presented to Wrangel. Spervy pages obviously: "The missed Wrangel's chance" - on author's usage - the book exposure, the book sentence. But if the old chancellor oshelmovan for "cowardice" before powers of the West, then "mediocrity" and "weak-mindedness" are charged to Wrangel. However, "poverty of intellect" - line, A. Shirokorad, inherent not only in the general Wrangel, but also all almost his colleagues in the White movement (page 340) is sure. Therefore he persistently calls Wrangel "captain". Say, on for the rest of the life it also remained. In any way not above. Such posthumous "degrading" by A. Shirokorad's efforts, apparently, for the first time "is introduced for scientific use".

Such is that is called "red thread" of the book. And what text?

Multipage quotes from Wrangel's "Notes" are replaced by their retelling, retelling - quotes. Retelling time so tsitaten that it seems as if hurriedly A. Shirokorad forgot to put quotes.

They are sometimes poured by rather small retellings and quotes from "Essays of the Russian distemper" of Denikin, memoirs Lukoms-kosh, Slashchova and Shirinskoy, the collection of documents on the Russian military emigration, the monograph by S. Karpenko "Essays of history of the White movement in the south of Russia" and several more works, including "hanging" on the Internet. Footnotes on them when are, when there is no. From what is some are spoiled to unrecognizability. Also the "borrowed" footnotes flash, but they so are not enough that to reproach A. Shirokorad - only to waste time on trifles. And in general is not necessary: "borrowed" other authors, and even it is banal the "composed" footnotes on archival documents, the periodical press and memoirs occurs now both in theses, and in monographs.

All these quotes and retellings as if nails, "knock together" in the book of the note of A. Shirokorad. Sometimes they - the summary passed, that is not awarded citings, pieces of the vrangelevsky text is limit. Sometimes - conclusions and an umopostroyeniye: either empty, or naive, or primitive, or aggressive and ignorant, or pretentious, or amusing.

These notes brightly reveal "creative kitchen" of A. Shirokorad: he so hurries to quote the Notes pages of Wrangel, "to inflate" the text up to the book volume that does not manage even to penetrate into quoted, at least to catch the actual party of business.

Here the most remarkable.

"What devil pulled his ktsaritsyna?" (page 163) is about Wrangel. The extremely important question which is giving rise not ceasing and until now to disputes - about the strategy of the Don and "voluntary" command of an opportunity and

of expediency of connection of fronts of armies of Kolchak and Denikin on Middle Volga. But A. Shirokorad itself did not find the answer to it, did not explain to readers (and it has them, readers). In denikinsky "Essays of the Russian distemper" and vrangelevsky "Notes" almost everything is written: it is necessary to read, compare, ponder only attentively, but not to be engaged in "dressmaking" of quotes. And still to work with Krasnov, Polyakov, Denisov, Dobrynin, Golubintsev, Makhrov's memoirs. Only this way it is possible to understand, "what devil pulled to Tsaritsyno" Krasnov in the 1918th, Denikin and Wrangel in the 1919th as well as why Tsaritsyn became "apple of discord" at first to a meyaed Krasnov and Denikin, and then between Denikin and Wrangel. It is a bit too much to read, of course, it turns out. The option was easier: "to borrow" the necessary material from the newly-baked book by A. Venkov "The ataman Krasnov and the Don army, 1918" (M., 2008). Anyway, A. Shirokorad missed the chance to understand, than for the South Russian anti-Bolsheviks there was Tsaritsyn nicknamed them "Red Carthage" to estimate Wrangel's arguments for the Tsaritsyno direction as the main thing, to understand in what and when the baron was right, and in what when and why was mistaken.

"Wrangel and Denikin's correspondence... confirms the sheer mess at the highest levels of Dobrarmiya" (page 168). The ego conclusion testifies rather to "the sheer mess" in A. Shirokorad's head. He did not penetrate into the reasons and an essence of the disagreements between Denikin and Wrangel which did not accidentally develop into the sharp conflict at all. Reading only "Essays of the Russian distemper" of Denikin and Wrangel's "Note", not to understand this complicated story - it is necessary to shovel dozens and dozens of editions. It was possible to go on an easy way - to read the novel chronicle by S. Karpenko "The last commander-in-chief" (M., 2006). Here, however, another is difficulty: after all the art text, pages "you will not borrow". And "to squeeze out" of it popular scientific retelling - any work. As a result and here A. Shirokorad missed the chance: both most to understand, and distinctly to tell readers about this tragic and instructive page of history of the White movement in the south of Russia.

"First Wrangel wanted to use contradictions between Rada and Dobrarmiya to knock down Denikin, but decided not to risk and refrain from Rada's support later" (page 177). Reliability would not concede to this conclusion it at all: Wrangel, "to knock down Denikin", first wanted to use "contradictions" between Council of People's Commissars and Volunteer army, but later "decided not to risk and refrain". A. Shirokorad did not manage understood the conflict between the main command of VSYuR and Kuban glad, to clear Wrangel's role in this conflict. It was necessary to read Filimonov, Sokolov, Rogovts and Shkuro's memoirs, to glance in the published transcripts of meetings of Rada, to look through the Kuban and "voluntary" newspapers of 1919. Or at least to wait to a publication of the book of S. Karpenko "White generals and a red distemper" (M., 2009): from there it is possible "to nakroit" quotes or nape-

to reskazat kind one hundred pages about the reasons and an essence of "the Kuban action", about a position and Wrangel's role in this bloody drama. So here A. Shirokorad missed the chance to understand that he found and that Wrangel in Kuban in the fall of 1919 lost

Surprising business, but three key, "Crimean", chapters - about that "the missed Wrangel's chance" - appeared scanty and especially pustoslovny: from 340 pages of the book - only 62. And, maybe, there is also nothing to be surprised here: just in the previous heads at the expense of multipage quotes the necessary volume was already "inflated" and further you should not have been troubled especially. And that is right: whether many will pass the reader at least for the middle of such text? But we - on the reviewer's debt - made effort and passed. And here what was found: what was Wrangel's strategy whether he had some chances of success in what they consisted why were not used, etc. - there is nothing intelligible in the text which is "hammered together" by A. Shirokorad. One "sheer mess". Moreover vulgar abuse of "captain" Wrangel in style of the Soviet propagandists. (Except for the pieces "borrowed" from "Essays of history of the White movement in the south of Russia" of S. Karpenko - about inflation, financial policy of the government of Wrangel, financial position and "labor everyday life" of officials, etc.). And words about how Wrangel, having successfully performed operation on misinformation, deceived command of the Soviet Southwest front (specifically - companions Stalin and Egorov) concerning the direction of the main attack of the Russian army in June, 1920 as he skillfully maneuvered between Great Britain and France, playing on contradictions between them as persistently tried to obtain from allies on the Entente of loans and supply with military materials as with the world on threads collected currency for continuation of armed struggle with Bolsheviks.

However, some words, we apologize, is. Such, for example: "The French demanded that the baron recognized and promised to pay all royal debts. Naturally, Wrangel agreed to everything". From them pulls a musty, heavy musty smell of the Soviet encyclopedias. Really some more borrow pages were so difficult at S. Karpenko? And absolutely what would be by the way - to glance in new, very interesting, documentary rich book by O. Budnitsky "Money of the Russian emigration: Kolchakovsky gold, 1918-1957" (M., 2008).

In detail, the storm of the Recop especially batalno described, as well as primitive reasonings on "transformation of the Crimea into the island", to "the Russian Hong Kong", could shed some light on "the missed Wrangel's chance". But under one condition: if A. Shirokoradu hit hands excellent work of an outstanding Russian fortifikator of D. Karbyshev "White Verdun". A lot of interesting "to borrow" was Opudamozhno! Alas...

Generally, and in the "Crimean" heads A. Shirokorad missed chance and most to understand in the history of the White Crimea 1920 and to tell it, is more faithful - to retell, to the reader.

24-page chapter "Gallipoli and Bizerte" - truly "the naked field" in comparison with a rich palette of the memoirs and the early emigrant studies abounding with a time the most improbable events, live scenes, bright images, and still - penetrated by bitterness of defeat, tragic element of humiliations in the foreign land, hopelessness pain. "It was not lucky" it to hit A. Shirokoradu's hands - here and there were for it a lot of things unknown. Including preparation by command 1-sh the army case of operation on capture of Constantinople. Here where it would find "an operational scope" for the umopostroyeniye! An opportunity was easier, however: to suffer and wait a little for a publication of the book of N. Kuznetsov "The Russian fleet in the foreign land" (M., 2009). Generally, and here A. Shirokorad missed the chance.

One of notes - estimable recognition: "I several times re-read "Notes" of the baron, but the distinct answer to this question did not find" (page 73). An ego about a possibility of arrival of Wrangel on service to the hetman Skoropadsky in 1918. Let's pay tribute to A. Shirokorad's sincerity. Even we will sympathize: to look for answers in Wrangel's text - work difficult. On ourselves we know. Not for this purpose Wrangel wrote "Notes" that descendants received from them direct, irrefragable answers on difficult, sensitive issues. "The conversation of the historian with Wrangel" demands, at least, profound knowledge of extensive memoirs literature, the periodical press and at least the published documents, remarkable skills of the source study analysis, profound knowledge of personal qualities of the last commander-in-chief. Sometimes, however,

And. Shirokorad catches Wrangel on default or tendentiousness: say, "Wrangel once again lies". And all. As if not the historian "talks" to Wrangel today, and operas of state security in the 37th interrogates the baron.

The main thing in another: like mad hurrying "to hammer together" the book and "to inflate" volume, A. Shirokorad "rushed gallop" by many bright plots, instructive situations and burning issues "eternal" for our distressful Fatherland, by a huge array of the most interesting historical information. In other words, he missed the chance and questions important to formulate distinctly, and serious on them to find answers, and honestly, intelligibly to share these answers with readers.

On the course of notes A. Shirokorad as usual scolds professional historians, contemptuously calling them "historians mere degree holders". Without calling, however, neither names, nor at least headings of books. And it is a pity... In fact, it too honest recognition - and that "I do not read you misters good", and that I "am not too burdened with historical education", and and is not necessary to us they are with mustache.

About the actual mistakes. The book is filled with them with all the heart as the Ukrainian duck fat. To list them all - dullly to spend journal pages. They are different: there are cheap, there are silly, there are amusing, there are "borrowed". And there are offensive.

At the beginning of the 2nd chapter it is reported about the Danish-Swedish roots of Wrangel. In the "Crimean" heads he is pejoratively certified by "the German baron", the background" is called as Wrangel "(page 217,23 5, etc.). Whether not one person "knocked together" this book, whether in a rush of A. Shirokoradu had no time for "joining" of the "borrowed" pieces and own umopostroyeniye. Or perhaps the author had an attack of the worst grade of "Slavophilism" - in the spirit of the Gogol tailor Petrovich who "liked to rugnut as required Germans"?

Denikin's departure from France to the USA after World War II is treated by A. Shirokorad to such manners: all war was waited-waited by Denikin that Hitler "will call" him, did not wait (actually, and "did not love Hitler for it") and then "began to come into contacts" with "the Russians who were at war on the party of of an itler" - here it and "was afraid of punishment from local community" therefore ran, "as a cockroach", in the USA (page 337). The following statement of future biographer if that is, A. Shirokorad would be so plausible: "Being afraid of punishment from the readers for establishing contacts with the world kagal, he was forced as a cockroach to run to Palestinian Authority".

Among the "generals and the titled persons" who ran up "as cockroaches", "from familiar spots" after World War II for the same reason, as Denikin, A. Shirokorad, having burned, branded and "the tsar who was allegedly fleeing from France to Franco Spain to Kiryukh" (page 337). So skomoroshnichesk are titled by him conducted. book by Kirill Vladimirovich Romanov who in emigration proclaimed himself the Russian emperor. And who died in Paris in 193 8 g

So, the level of the book is clear: hack-work from haltur, aggressive in a form and ignorant according to contents.

But it does not mean at all that it is worthy only one such intellectual "silent condemnation".

Much of those "historians mere degree holders" of a chistoplyuyska turn up the nose at books by A. Shirokorad. In vain. "The missed Wrangel's chance" gives a reason for serious, and even very much, to a conversation.

We will designate - we will only designate - two moments.

The first. Not deliberate, but natural - with all the heart - primitivism of statement, vulgarity of tone and a kozyryaniye ignorance of steel for A. Shirokorad, and it is equal also other similar to it "ror-1sh1opk". bright "spinner" for the jambs of the "mass" reader which are rushing about in muddy, fairly dirtied depths of a present book stream. That "mass" reader, whose level of historical education promptly falls, approaching the level of a Chekhovian institutka of Nadenki: "Recently Russia was at war with the Abroad at what it was much killed Turks". Falls partly thanks to reading such here "popular scientific" editions which authors, apparently, consciously aimed to fool compatriots, to bring down their level of historical education, to narrow their historical outlook to full ignorance, "from where is modern Russia went".

The second. Let's remember: jokes about Chapayev became natural, healthy reaction to false pompous "red" heroics "to that only civil". Now, apparently, exposure and a floor the Soviet okhaivaniye of Wrangel by A. Shirokorad became reaction to so pompous, eloquent "white" heroics. And, perhaps, reaction normal, some kind of symptom. As the increased body temperature indicates inflammatory process in a human body, and "hammered together"

And. The book about "the cavalry captain" of Wrangel indicates by Shirokorad a prolonged disease of present scientific and popular scientific literature on the White movement: enthusiastic praise, unreasonable extolment of "Saint of White business", erection of transcendental pedestals to "white knights". So, quite possibly, the step following "The missed Wrangel's chance" - jokes. Let's tell, such: "The general Wrangel attends appointment of the general Denikin. Reports: "I received, your excellency, the official report of the colonel Brezhnev..."".

Reviews, kindly if, it is accepted to finish a wish to the author of new books. In sense to write still. We will wish A. Shirokoradu of new books too. But in other sense: to read.

I.A. Belokon

Golden V.I. is soldiers in the foreign land: The Russian General and Military union, Russia and the Russian Abroad in XX-XX1 centuries. Arkhangelsk: SOLTI, 2006. - 796 pages

The new book by the famous Arkhangelsk historian of professor which appeared in 2006, could not but draw the doctor of historical sciences V.I. Goldin to itself attention of historians and all those who are interested in the Russian abroad created as a result of the national accident endured by Russia in 1917-1922. Today it is hardly possible to compare to the book by V.I. Goldin any other edition, whether it be the monograph, the brochure or the manual devoted to this subject.

First of all, the indisputable advantage of the book is introduction into circulation of the big array of the most various documents, first of all archival which were revealed by the author.

Besides, the works of domestic researchers written in the 1990th were limited to a chronological framework of the interwar period. They finished the statement or tore off on a threshold of World War II. It is possible to explain it with the fact that, considering the history of World War II, it is impossible to ignore such sensitive and difficult issue as the Russian liberation movement - the SORT. Unlike Civil, war of 1941-1945 was not the distant past yet, it

is closely twisted

in modern policy, hundreds and thousands of participants and witnesses of those events, first of all - our compatriots who appeared on different sides of the front line are alive. To V.I. Goldin's honor, he did not wander from this sensitive issue, did not stop on a threshold of World War II, lit these the most difficult, sometimes very painful, questions as the true professional: scientifically, objectively, thoughtfully.

One more advantage and undoubted novelty of the book - statement of history of the Russian troops in exile in post-war decades. Before nearly the only attempt to state at least in brief history DITCH C from the moment of its creation and up to now it was undertaken by the St. Petersburg historian I.B. Ivanov (the Russian General and Military Union: Short historical essay. SPb., 1994). However during the time which passed since then there were many important events both in Russia, and in the Russian abroad. It also found reflection in the monograph by V.I. Goldin.

Telling about the interwar period, the author for the first time introduces for scientific use before not the known documents, tells about the little-known facts. More fully, than his predecessors, are lit with it: kidnappings of generals A.P. Kutepov and E.K. Miller; With and the Case imperial army and the fleet, the monarchic legitimistsky organization recognizing the rights for the Russian throne conducted difficult relationship between the DITCH. book by Kirill Vladimirovich and his successor; between ROVS and the Russian national union of participants of war created by the general of A.B. Turkul and taking more right positions, than ROVS; participation of the Russian volunteers in the Civil war in Spain and in Winter war on side of Finland against the USSR.

Especially in details V.I. Goldin stops on that drama choice which the Russian white emigrants had to make in June 22, 1941. He stated the view of this choice and of participation of the Russian military emigration in the Russian liberation movement in the previous monograph which appeared in 2005, "The fatal choice: The Russian military Abroad in the years of World War II" which name speaks for itself.

As further it is reasoned and comprehensively is shown in the book, ROVS restored after 1945 still some time reminded what was before World War II - the cropped army in exile. But the further war consigned to the past, and the international situation "was relieved", the quicker and neobratimy there was its transformation into the military and memorial veteran organization. Change of its staff and attempt of transfer of activity in borders of Russia are considered. The point of view of the present management of ROVS on the Association attempt made a few years ago the cadet of foreign Russian military schools is stated "to close" ROVS.

V.I. Goldin's aspiration to remain the impartial professional, to be the most objective at material supply, even to separate from the heroes - at the same time both strong, and weak old

on the monograph. It will attract someone from readers, someone, on the contrary, will disappoint. But will hardly leave indifferent, will not push to reflections about the fate of the Russian military emigration. And therefore it is necessary to regret that such strong, deep work came out with a circulation only 300 copies. Bitter realities of the modern book market of Russia are that: circulations of hack-work and plagiarism - many times it is more.

V.G. Chicheryukin-Meyngardt

Simonov Sidorov Ave against Himmler: The revealed arrest secret. Saratov: Volga-HH1 century, 2008.-156 pages

In Saratov beyond short term - within incomplete one and a half one or two years the book by the famous Saratov journalist Alexander Simonov went editions, it is a lot of writing on military and historical subject.

The participant and the disabled person of the Great Patriotic War, he was born in 1929 in Balakovo of the Saratov region, graduated from philological faculty of Saratov Chernyshevsky State University in 1952 and office of the press of the Higher party school at the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1967. Worked in the Rivne regional newspaper, "The Balashov truth", Voronezh "Commune", Saratov "Communist". Passed all steps of journalistic hierarchy: from a litsotrudnik and the correspondent to the deputy chief editor of the regional newspaper. It was published in regional and capital editions and publishing houses, participated in many collective collections. The winner of a journalistic award of M.S. Olminsky.

The book "Sidorov against Himmler" became a new stage of creativity of Alexander Simonov. Great reader's interest to it is attracted by the fact that in a header essay the author brightly and convincingly opens one of the mysteries of World War II. Namely: as one of the most powerful heads of Nazi Germany Heinrich Himmler was caught. On strictly documentary basis it is shown that Reichsführer-SS detained not parts of the 2nd British army as it is considered to be, and the former captured Red Army men - the resident of Saratov Ivan Egorovich Sidorov and the resident of Ryazan Vasily Ilyich Gubarev.

After release from captivity they were in assembly transit point for the Soviet citizens in the English zone of occupation and, having voluntarily entered a commandant's company, regularly bore patrol service. Himmler also got to them. There was it in the evening on May 21, 1945 on the outskirts of the village Maynshtedt.

Who started up all over the world a forgery? To whom and why it was required to mislead the world? How did everything occur in fact? On these and other questions the essay gives the concrete and convincing answer. By its preparation the desktop of the author was visited by a set of editions oteche-

stvenny and foreign authors, journal and newspaper publications, what the impressive help device eloquently testifies to. They also helped to restore the historical truth. Including such: if not two former captured Red Army men - Himmler in general could avoid arrest.

The author challenges the opinion occurring among chroniclers of World War II that the Reichsführer-SS after capitulation of Germany behaved as the tired-out animal aspiring in any way to save the ass. There are no authentic data on true plans of Himmler yet. But there is indirect evidence (they are provided in an essay), according to which the immler did not intend to disappear like Borman or Müller secretly though opportunities for this purpose at it was much more, than at them. On the contrary, he said publicly that "the destiny set the new task for it. Also he will solve it one, but several people can go with him together". Therefore the hypothesis made in an essay is represented very convincing: Himmler went to the commander-in-chief of the British occupational troops in Germany field marshal B. Montgomery with the purpose to agree about joint actions against the USSR. And it threatened with tragic consequences for the fate of post-war Europe.

The last statement can seem improbable, however the logical chain of events built by the author on the basis of scrupulous studying numerous sources - is quite convincing. In an essay the historical background on which the described events developed is widely shown. And it is extremely important. Not any reader knows that according to the confidential instruction of the prime minister of Great Britain At Churchill in the English zone of occupation under a wing of the field marshal of Montgomery the German military equipment carefully gathered, the German troops contained up in arm for a possible joint performance against the Red Army. Alexander Simonov fairly considers that Himmler was perfectly informed in this respect, and therefore he vigorously looked for contacts with military and political leaders of the western powers.

But eventually it was not fated to happen: on the way of the former Reichsführer there were former captured Red Army men. And how here not to agree with the opinion of our colleague, doctor of historical sciences Anton Posadsky given in the book: "New confrontation knocked at the door, smelled of new war. And if Sidorov and Gubarev's not this act who caught Himmler all configuration of the post-war world could go some other, more difficult ways".

With special warmth the author tells about the Russian soldiers who caught of an immler - Vasily Ilyich Gubarev and Ivan Egorovich Sidorov. Both of them are peasants. Both served as riding - one in Ukraine, another in Belarus. Both showed fidelity to the oath and courage in an enemy environment, in gimmlerovsky extermination camps for the Soviet prisoners of war. And in the highest

degrees it is fair, the author emphasizes that to them destiny it was allowed to catch the bloody executioner, one of main if not main thing, war criminals. Ordinary Russian soldiers faithful to the oath and a debt who in an extraordinary situation showed vysolyu vigilance and a military grasp appear at the reader, behaved so that their names became property of history.

The second work presented in the book - "Legend — Own Life" - is the documentary story about the 18-year-old intelligence agent Nina Latysheva. In the spring of its 1942, shown willingness to serve in army investigation, enlisted in the structure of reconnaissance department of the 63rd army. It had necessary training. In the summer and in the fall went for Don, to the enemy back three times, and returned with the most valuable information about the opponent. In one of such "campaigns" she managed to get a job at Germans, to hammer together around itself faithful people and with their help to obtain necessary information.

In the story there are no sharp scenes with pursuits and firefights, the smart plots connected with interrogations in Gestapo torture chambers. But the attention of the reader is kept in constant suspense. The author leads the narration so that we feel, understand to what danger of death the young intelligence agent and her assistants hourly subject themselves. Of special value the fact that, by recognition of the author, in an essay there is no invented episode is for the modern reader, all characters bear the real names and surnames. The award - a fighting award of the Red Banner eloquently tells it about value of what was made by the heroine of the story.

It is convinced, the book "Sidorov against Himmler" with huge interest will be read by everyone who wants to know the truth about the Great Patriotic War. Also will derive at the same time considerable pleasure: based on documents, the book it it is bright, fascinating, living, magnificent Russian.

The wave of meetings which swept then across Ukraine swept away all rules of law and morals. Under a powerful pressure of the street which highest point was a meeting concert which was not stopping several weeks on the Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kiev the power and opposition made a compromise. Result of their agreement became the political reform and appointment accepted "in a package" contrary to the Constitution of the third round of presidential elections. The opposition candidate V. Yushchenko received so the presidency wished them, and the country - political reform which became a starting point of the current system crisis. And here, at the end of 2009 - the beginning of 2010 in Ukraine there have to take place again presidential elections which or will put an end to "the orange period" of the modern history of Ukraine, or will fix gaining "Maidan".

Really, "orange revolution" in Ukraine as we see now, had far-reaching consequences for the Ukrainian statehood. At the same time this problem - probl
