 "CIVIL WAR IN THE EAST OF RUSSIA:

NEW APPROACHES, OPENING, FINDS"

19 - On April 20, 2002 in Chelyabinsk the conference "Civil war in the east of Russia took place: new approaches, opening, finds", organized by the Southern Ural State University.

This conference - one of the few reflecting regional issues of history of Civil war and White movement in Russia. It became some kind of continuation of a conference in Izhevsk. The department of history of the Southern Ural State University and an editorial board of the almanac "Belaya Gvardiya" acted as her organizer. The main part in its preparation was taken by the author of the famous monograph on stories of officers of army of the admiral A.V. Kolchak, the candidate of historical sciences, the associate professor of the Southern Ural university E.V. Volkov, the old subscriber and the author of the almanac "Belaya Gvardiya". At a conference there were researchers from Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, Orenburg and Moscow.

During work of a conference 18 reports and messages were heard, many of which attracted great interest and were discussed during the debate.

After an opening speech which the vice rector for scientific work of the Southern Ural university A.L. Shestakov made the audience listened to very interesting report of the head of the department of history of Russia, the doctor of historical sciences, professor I.V. Sibiryakov devoted to the analysis of the Websites on the history of Civil war, the prospects of use of electronic literature on classes in national history.

With the report the candidate of historical sciences, the associate professor of MGPU, the editor-in-chief of the almanac "Belaya Gvardiya" V.Zh. Tsvetkov talked about the topic "Evolution of Program Installations of the White Movement in Russia and the Abroad in 1917 - 192 0. In the report the main milestones in development of program installations of the white governments in different regions of Russia were depicted, it was told about the perspective directions in studying the White movement in a modern Russian historiography.

The greatest attention as it followed from a main objective of a conference, was given to the Civil war in the Urals. E.A. Pleshkevich, the assistant to department of economy and the right of UGAVM, mentioned in the message structure of state governing bodies of the Provisional regional government of the Urals in August

>- November, 1918. The poorly studied subject - "Militia of the Chelyabinsk Province in 1919 - 1921." - was considered in the report by the teacher of the Chelyabinsk legal institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V.

Shchetkin. The organization of food matter in Chelyabinsk in 1917 - 1919 was covered in the message by the research associate of the historical and cultural center of Chelyabinsk A.I. Skorikov.

The doctor of historical sciences, professor of the Chelyabinsk state university I.V. Narsky made the problem report covering all region: "The Urals in Civil war: forms of violence and strategy of survival".

Very great attention at a conference was received also by the region, neighboring to Chelyabinsk region, - the Orenburg region, namely

>- history of the Orenburg Cossack army. The doctor of historical sciences, professor of the Chelyabinsk legal institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation V.S. Kobzev made the report on officer corps of the Orenburg Cossack army in 1918 - 1919. Activities of the army government for formation of parts of the Orenburg Cossacks in July - October, 1918 were lit by the candidate of historical sciences, the senior teacher of the Chelyabinsk legal institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation V.A. Kuznetsov. The associate editor of the almanac "Belaya Gvardiya" A.V. Ganin made the report "About formation and participation in fighting of the 2nd Orenburg Cossack case in February - April, 1919".

The author of the monograph about the general Hanzhin, the associate professor of the Orenburg state pedagogical university V.G. Semyonov covered the fate of the army foreman E.V. Yershov in the message. The organizer of a conference E.V. Volkov gave the report on the subject "Orthodox Clergy in A.V. Kolchak's Troops".

The reports a little other than regional subject were made by the doctor of historical sciences, professor of ChGPU A.L. Hudoborodov ("The Cossack emigration of 1920 - the 1930th") and the deputy chief editor of the almanac "Belaya Gvardiya" R.G. Gagkuyev ("Features of social composition of white armies during the Civil war in Russia").

The concluding remarks were made by the doctor of historical sciences, professor of the Southern Ural State University I.V. Sibiryakov who emphasized importance of similar actions for cultural and public life of regions.

With organizers of a conference the agreement on further cooperation and exchange of materials on the history of the White movement and anti-Bolshevist resistance was reached. Conferees handed over theses for the publication in the separate collection and on pages of the almanac "Belaya Gvardiya". In total about 100 students, graduate students of the Southern Ural and Chelyabinsk state universities participated in work of a conference.

Unfortunately, representatives of an editorial board of the almanac "White armies did not take part in work of a conference. White business" from Yekaterinburg, they received the invitation from the Organizing committee. We hope that scientific cooperation in studying Civil war in the Urals and in Siberia will be continued.

In the university the literature exhibition on the history of the White movement where among other editions issues of the almanac "Belaya Gvardiya" were submitted was organized,

books by S.V. Volkov and just published textbook on the history of Russia 1801 - 1917 of professor S.G. Pushkarev.

Upon termination of a conference the presentation of the publishing program of Posev publishing house was held. The deputy director of publishing house, the editor-in-chief of the almanac "Belaya Gvardiya" V.Zh. Tsvetkov told about the next plans - the edition of the collection "Kappel and Kappelevets" narrating about life of the famous general and history of parts of his name. Upon termination of the presentation the movie about the general Hanzhin was shown (the scriptwriter - the associate professor of the Orenburg state pedagogical university V.G. Semyonov).

Within the conference for her visitors of participants the sightseeing tour with visit of its sights and scientific centers was conducted.
