The characteristic positive, important and encouraging feature of today's Russia - return to the traditions and names ignored in rather near past that disproves the gloomy words of V.V. Rozanov stated to them at the beginning of last century shortly before World War I: "Russians have no consciousness of the ancestors..." 1. This circumstance is relevant first of all in the light of a problem of patriotic education which needs to be supported with positive examples from the present and the past, and to such task there corresponds the book by V.V. Ovchinnikov addressed to a wide range of readers "The pupil of a spiritual cradle of the Saint of Belogorie" representing the popular scientific edition and telling about life and activity of I.A. Dvigubsky, the scientist and the administrator for several years, from 1826 to 1833, being the rector of the Moscow university. The book is extremely useful to formation of regional (regional) patriotism as I.A. Dvigubsky the native of Korocha located in the territory of the Belgorod province after abolished, and being today the regional center of the Belgorod region which gave to Russia a number of outstanding fellow countrymen. The author of the book, the professional historian (to. istorich. N, dots.) and the local historian, V.V. Ovchinnikov filled the work not only with rather detailed statement of the biography of I.A. Dvigubsky, but also a large number of the facts concerning history Korochi, the Moscow university, features domestic science and education of that time and even of the et-tingensky university in which I.A. Dvigubsky trained and which had rather strong communications with the university Moscow. At the same time V.V. Ovchinnikov does not remain a third-party and indifferent konstatator, and quite emotionally comments on the stated events that along with availability of statement it is undoubtedly possible to carry to advantages of his book also.

I.A. Dvigubsky that is shown by the author, connected the destiny with the Moscow university still absolutely young man: stayed there on a student's bench (medical faculty), worked as the associate professor of natural history, the head of the department of technology and the sciences relating to trade and factories then became ordinary professor and the secretary of university Council, later, right after the termination of Patriotic war of 1812, he headed department of physics. I.A. Dvigub-sky grew to the dean of physical and mathematical faculty, at last, is elected the vice rector, and in several months reaches top of the administrative university career, having become the rector of the Moscow university. Enviable fidelity, we will notice, Alma Mater that does credit not only to research, but also moral qualities of I.A. Dvigubsky, and it is quite good to what to learn to many representatives of modern Russian science.

The author not just considers the biography and a contribution to domestic science of I.A. Dvigubsky, but does it through consideration of more general context: before the reader there pass the galaxy of the names, known in Russia, connected with the Moscow university and not only representatives teaching and administrative

last case, but also students. This is first of all I.A. Goncharov, M.Yu. Lermontov, K.S. Aksakov, N.V. Stankievich, V.G. Belinsky, A.I. Herzen and N.P. Ogarev.

About V.G. Belinsky and A.I. Herzen (especially there is a lot of about N.G. Chernyshevsky, but he for good reason remains outside V.V. Ovchinnikov's attention) it was much written in the Soviet research literature. These representatives of the so-called "revolutionary-democratic camp" were extolled as large thinkers and public figures, as an important link in domestic philosophical materialistic tradition and liberation movement. The mention of the Russian revolutionary-democratic movement even appeared in introduction to new edition of the Program of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union where it was noted: "The party came to political arena as the worthy successor of the ideas of socialist transformation of society proclaimed in the first program document of communists - "The manifesto of the Communist Party", an unfading feat of heroes of the Commune of Paris, revolutionary traditions of the international working class, the Russian revolutionary-democratic movement" 1. The Russian society - society of extremes, domestic mentality difficult goes on compromises and half measures, and respectively, after the beginning of democratic transformations in the country the Russian philosophy and political science with rare exception of V.G. Belinsky, A.I. Herzen, N.G. Chernyshevsky's steel to avoid. V.V. Ovchinnikov devotes the first two separate sections of the book and even attaches their images, at the same time, that follows from author's comments, without approving "maximalism" and "revolutionary activity" of future revolutionary democrats at all.

As the conscientious researcher, V.V. Ovchinnikov cites much, he refers to sources when he gives any given facts. At the same time, pages from which quotes undertake are not always specified. Some, again formal negligence, is present at inscriptions under portraits: if to specify, this image, then for all, in any case for N.V. Stankievich at whom, as at P.Ya Chaadayev, two images, one in young, another - at mature age belongs to youth or a maturity.

Such shortcomings, annoying on the meanness, do not remove the general positive impression from the book by V.V. Ovchinnikov. The material stated in it is substantial not only in historical and biographic, but also in the culturological and philosophical relation. It is necessary only to regret in connection with the small circulation of this edition making the undoubted contribution to patriotic education of Russians and in particular residents of Belgorod.
