Population of Bessarabia (Draganov's notes). Russian population of Bessarabia, radical and alien

NARODONASELENIYE of BESSARABIA (Draganov's note) Russian population of Bessarabia, radical and alien

The Russian people in the Bessarabia province, judging by the latest statistical news (1908), live in quantity of 537,943 souls of both sexes, i.e. contain 1/4 part of all diverse population of the province (2,344,800). At the same time the majority it on the party of malorus which 379,698, are three times one smaller than velikorus - 125,774, and Belarusians who all alien, 2,471 soul - except for Old Believers and evading from Orthodoxy which 28,532, other, most considerable part of the Russian population of Bessarabia belongs to ancient Orthodoxy and an edinoveriya which together with other population of the Greek-Russian and east catholic church (Greeks, Moldavians, Bulgarians, Gagauz and Czechs) consider by the hierarchy the archbishop Chisinau and Hotinsko-go and his two vicars - Akkermansky and Izmail. These vikariata till 1821 were a part of a titular Chisinau metropolitanate to which protopopstvo Odessa, Tiraspol and Ananyev-sky before establishment in 1837 of independent department hierarchal Kherson and Taurian in turn submitted. But everything told above belongs only to walking, statistical definition of the Russian people in Bessarabia. The historical ethnology and modern folklore knows something bigger of Russians in the Bessarabia province. Here the Russian people are presented now not only posterity of late immigrants from Little Russia and Moscow

the states, acting through Cossacks of the different name, nekrasovets, lipovan (conservatives of purely great Russian type and the speech), Molokans, shtundist (mainly malorus) and even dissenters fanatics like "white pigeons" and "Men of God" (switches and skopts), but also acting through descendants of natives of edge

>- modern strictly orthodox rusnak, or the Russinian, hotinsky rayk (in Moldavian raylyan) and partly Huzuls, lemk and bikes, i.e. late generation well-known in "The Russian of the initial chronicle" uglichy, tiverets, luchan and to some extent berladnik, brodnik and the kolbyag which were at first a part of Russia of the Grand duchy Kiev, and subsequently both the Grand duchy, and then kingdoms of alitsky (at the western writers of Volodimeriya), occupying the well-known Curved seashore, Konstantin Bagryanorodny's Corner, later to Rossovlakhy (at Nick. Halkondila) and, at last, Nogai Budzhak, Ukrayna Hanskaya and New Sech. From 314 "cities" uglichy and the tiverets specified by the Ravensky kosmograf classical Tiras, the Russian Belgorod, the Greek Asprokastron, Moldavian Chetate-Alba, the Tatar-Turkish Akkerman whose names in all these languages mean the same especially were famous. Bessarabia the well-known capital city of uglichy was considered as the second settlement of Russia It is crossed, become famous for the fact that sustained more than three-year siege of the Kiev voivode Sveneld, without wishing to enter into the offensive union of the Russian princes to Constantinople, and already during the second campaign of Kievan Rus' on Tsaregrad uglichi and tiverets on Peresechen's delivery, were a part of the Russian state. This Peresechen was a subject of archaeological opening and the special thesis of the father of science of historical geography in Russia former professor I. (imperial - S. S). The Moscow university, the ill-fated publisher of the Teleskop magazine, then the official of special instructions at the Novorossiysk and Bessarabia deputy of the lightest prince Mikh. This. Vorontsov and, at last, the editor of the magazine of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, famous Nikolay Ivanovich Nadezhdin (About location of the ancient city of Peresechina belonging to the people to uglicha. Notes of the Odessa Society of history and antiquities, t. I, 1844, p. 243 and trace.). On ruins of this Peresechen who disappeared not completely costs now almost absolutely omoldavanivsheesya the settlement of Peresechina from Chisinau to Orge-ev halfway.

Only 127 settlements in number of 183,109 Russians.

In all Bessarabia from 4,785 settlements it is the share of a share of the Russian people in it 446, in number of 537,943 inhabitants from 2,344,800 population of the province.

Even average counties of the Bessarabia province almost absolutely omoldavanenny now (Chisinau, Orgeevsky and Balti) during an era of formation of the Russian state, and subsequently during blossoming and poly-

tichesky power of the Grand duchy (then kingdoms) Galitsky who was officially called in the west of Volodimeriy represented absolutely other ethnographic picture. This state embraced itself not only Galicia, Bukovina, Rossovlakhiya (Bessarabia), the country of brodnik and Kumaniya, Hanskaya Ukraine and the Corner, he is Budzhak, but also all Nizhnedunaysky lowland with Small Scythia, present Dobrudja. And already much later, after descent and movement from Carpathians Mountains across Bukovina to Bessarabia and on that side of the Prut ancestors of the present Romanians who founded two new pridunay-sky states in the 14th century - Moldova and Walachia (she is Munteniya), already owing to political circumstances, adverse for unity of the Russian state (the introduction of the West Russian destinies across Lyublensky of the union in structure of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth) and, at last, owing to unity of belief and official state, judicial and liturgical Slavic language at Moldavians and volokh, Russian and the Russian people began to lose the former value in these countries, having allowed itself to a Romanization from Moldavians in Bessarabia.

But that honor omoldavanivshiyesya quite now the average Counties of Bessarabia and Moldova, Walachia and Semigradye (Transylvania) represented till the 14th century later Slavic substrate, as the brilliant proof of it serve these sciences of historical ethnology and historical ethnography developed in the 19th century by works of erudite authorities with the European name among which there are also conscientious experts on business from Romanians, what P.I. Shafforin, N.I. Nadezhdin, Tsace, V.I. Grigorovich, N. Murzakevich, N. Barsov, Miklashchich, Rösler, to O. Densushan, Biyan, Bogdan, Frunzesku and others. At the same time as the main dogmatic provisions of the above-stated truth are considered:

still the following fact speaking about survivability of Old Russian language in Bessarabia Is noteworthy

>. It is known that in all modern Slavic adverbs, i.e. kind dozen of so-called Slavic languages, only in Russian remained polnoglasy which is not known neither Church Slavonic, nor other Slavic languages. As the Bessarabia examples proofs of this doctrine of science of comparative grammar very many place names can serve in Bessarabia and in the Moldavian language in their Russian transfer. Are that, Peresechen or Peresechina instead of Slavic Prisi-china or Presichina, settlements the Ancient settlement which in Bessarabia five, instead of Gradishche which besides only one, namely the settlement of Gradishche, Rodokan's manor as in gura-galbensky language are that.

The most considerable part of velikorus - Orthodox Christians and brothers in faith, other part - evading from Orthodoxy and Old Believers of different rumors and soglasiya to antipublic switches and skopts and other turncoats of the Russian dominating belief. The Hristo-Rozhdestvensky missionary brotherhood officially recognized in the Bessarabia province of 35 settlements which are most infected with raskolo-sectarianism. Against these points the mission with assignment of duties of the missionary on the local suitable priest who on the rank is the first and irreplaceable missionary was also founded. Such points are especially: 1) city of Hotin, 2) village of Grubno,

3) village of Volchintsy, 4) Shirovtsy-Vysshiye, 5) town of Sekuryany, 6) village of Belousovka,
7) m of Edintsa and the village of Rusyany, 8) Ryshkanovk m, 9) Balti, 10) the village of Kotyuzhany Nizhniye, 11) the village of Poyana-Kunicha, 12) Teleneshta m from where the member of the State Duma of the third appeal D.
