passed the International ecological forum "Let's Keep the Planet Earth" devoted to the 100 anniversary of the Central Museum of Soil Science (CMSS) of V.V. Dokuchayev and to the 280 anniversary of St. Petersburg State University in St. Petersburg from March 1 to March 5, 2004 the Forum was organized by Central Museum of Soil Science of V.V. Dokuchayev Soil institute of V.V. Dokuchayev Russian Academy of Agrarian Sciences and department of soil science and ecology of soils of St. Petersburg State University with assistance of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Dokuchaievsk society of soil scientists of Russia, faculty of soil science of MSU, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, state Darvinian mueeya and the FTP "Integration".

on March 1 in 158-ip anniversary since the birth of V.V. Dokuchayev in the Assembly hall of St.Petersburg State University the joint meeting of participants of the XXI Dokuchaievsk readings which are traditionally taking place in Moscow and the VII Dokuchaievsk youth readings which are annually carried out to St.Petersburg State University for the first time took place. School students of St. Petersburg also participated in a meeting.

the scientific report was made by professor G.V: Dobrovolsky (MGPU), whose report capacious and rich with illustrative material was devoted to problems of biospheric geochemistry of the heavy metals (HM). The behavior of TM in the modern biosphere submits to the fundamental laws of natural sciences opened in works. V.V. Dokuchayev, V.I. • Vernadsky, I.R. Prigozhin, etc. Dtsn. from the most important conclusions of the report — establishment of the dominating role of not ionic forms of water migration flows of TM. Scales of the migration of chemical elements connected with коллоидами& and humic substances of soils were shown. A part of results of the long-term researches of department which are carried out under the leadership of professor E.I. Gagarina on studying restoration of the soil and vegetable cover broken by activity of the enterprises of the mining industry in the Northwest of Russia was presented in the report of the graduate student of department of soil science and ecology of soils of St.Petersburg State University E.V. Abakumov (the coauthor — O.V. Lisitsyna). The student of the Kazan university Alexey Shinkarev gave results of the historical research devoted to life and activity of the original Russian scientist R.V. Rizpolozhensky, the founder of geobiological school of soil science, the creator of the oldest (with - the 1880th g) collections of soils.

Alexander Shinkarev — too the student of KGU (brother of the previous speaker) told

about the pilot study of sorption of soils of liquid polyaromatic hydrocarbons executed by it together with A.A. Mishchenko. The report of the senior of the Item Turina — school lyceum No. 150, St.Petersburg State University) which investigated various indicators of biological activity of soils in different functional zones of a forest park Sosnovka was of particular interest.

In the second half of day the participants of the Forum gathered on the Smolensk cemetery where the flower-laying on V.V. Dokuchayev's grave took place. Members of the organizing committee, participants and guests of the Forum participated in this action, many of which made the speech where the role of the outstanding scientist in the basis and formation of the Russian and world soil science revealed.

the ceremonial meeting of the Forum devoted to the 100 anniversary of Central Museum of Soil Science of V.V. Dokuchayev took place on March 2. With welcoming speech the rector of St.Petersburg State University L.A. Verbitskaya addressed participants of the Forum. The text of a performance is attached. Osnova's

of scope of a morning plenary session: a) the scientific research including aimed at legislative providing protection of soils b) high school pedagogical process and c) educational work with different categories of the population. The RAS academician G.V. Dobrovolsky in the program report noted that the genetic soil science represents branch of natural sciences which to a large extent, than other industries, is responsible for ensuring stability of the biosphere. It depicted scales of the "silent crisis" of the planet caused by degradation of the soil cover which was less evident than disappearance of species, but the leader to not less destructive consequences for mankind. The speaker formulated the most important tasks of soil scientists as purely scientific (further development of the functional and ecological direction of soil science, development of the theory of stability of soils in the conditions of the increasing anthropogenic loadings, etc.), and organizational (participation in improvement of the legislation in the field of protection not simply lands, but actually soils, interaction with sanitary and epidemiologic services of the country, resumption of regular repeated mapping of soils & #34; etc.).

With provisions of the report of G.V. Dobrovolsky other performances had in many respects something in common. The deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the vice-chairman of committee of the Duma on ecology A.I. Fokin noted that they in 22 territorial subjects of the federation of 27% of lands are broken. He emphasized that long ago need of adoption of law on the soil which was repeatedly discussed at meetings of the Duma of former ripened. convocations. A.I. Fokin urged scientists to consolidate efforts on a successful completion of this work. A contradiction between the objective importance of soil parameters and almost total absence of their account at assessment of the lands used in various purposes (and not just in leso- or agricultural!), B.F. Aparin — professor of St.Petersburg State University noted. He fairly considers that roots of degradation of soils in Russia — in deficiency of knowledge of the soil at land users and legislators. A.S. Yakovlev (professor of MSU) suggested participants of the Forum to send the Appeal to the Russian President and presented the draft of the text of such Address. At an evening plenary session heard reports of scientists from the different countries on the main problems soil науки>

G.S. Kust and G.V. Dobrovolsky (Russia) in the report offered

new approaches to the concept of assessment of soil resources (material, functional, cultural). T. Kosaki (Japan) gave results of a research of soils of Central Asia, including in the territory of the former USSR, alarming for food security of the region and its development in the 21st century. About application of the CMP soil collections of V.V. Dokuchayev in researches of global changes of the environment L. Lapenis (USA) in collaboration with B.F. Aparin gave the report. Problems of degradation of soils in the west of the CIS are opened in the report N.I. Smeyan, G.S. Tsytron (Belarus). A.P. Karklinsh and Ya. Livmanis (Latvia) considered the comparative prospects of development of soil service and soil monitoring. S.P. Poznyak (Ukraine), having versatily characterized degradatsionny processes in chernozems of Ukraine, called a relevant task preparation of the fundamental monograph about chernozems of Europe. In traditions of genetic soil science L.Yu. Reyntam's (Estonia) report on a soil variety and modern soil processes was heard (an oglinivaniye, a gleeobrazovaniye, to ale-viirovaniye).

Sarmurzinoy's report (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almaty) it was told a new form of research projects as in ecological education. In the report of S.A. Sheba and A.S. Vladychensky (MSU) the modern concept of training of soil scientists as experts of page by vision of a complete picture of the world in social and natural aspects was stated. Now soil scientists are trained by 10 universities and also agricultural and timber higher education institutions. In modern conditions appeared, along with traditional, new niches of application of soil science, in particular, the state monitoring of the environment, ecological rationing of its quality, assessment of soils, land and cadastral works, administrative maintenance of assessment procedure and allocation of land. It is necessary to add that later, at one of section meetings, with great interest O.V report was heard; Semenyuk and A.S. Vladychen-sky (MSU) about the new lecture course "Landscape Design" expanding opportunities for employment of graduates of soil departments.

On materials of the researches executed in different regions, and types of landscapes the ecological importance of soils is revealed and it is shown that their protection is the global problem demanding complex assessment {JI. A. Gafurova with coauthors, the Tashkent GAU, Goskomzem of the Republic of Uzbekistan; S.M. Guseynova with coauthors, IPA HAH of Azerbaijan). JI. I. Inisheva with coauthors (SibNII of Peat of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science, the Tomsk GU) showed a biospheric role of marsh soils. O.S. Bezuglova with coauthors (Rostov GU) on the basis of 6 years' studying soils Rostov-on-Don gave the differentiated ecological assessment of the habitat of citizens and presented the second in Russia (after Moscow) the map of soils of the megalopolis. On the virgin soil mastered 50 years ago A.A. Naumenko gave ecological assessment of soils and landscapes (The Kazakh university of Al-Farabi, Almaty). Results of detailed researches of microelement structure of arable soils of the Baltic region including the Northwest of Russia and p. of Ana adjoining on it, presented I.N. Matinyan. with coauthors (St.Petersburg State University). Ambiguity of the changes of an ecological situation caused by systematic burning out of an eddish in Baikal region was revealed V.I. Bychkov with coauthors (Irkutsk GU). Admissible (not leading to serious violations of an ecological situation) erosive losses of the soil M.S. Kuznetsov (MSU) devoted to a technique of assessment the report. V.G. Chernenok (Kazakh AGU) opened the factors aggravating a degumifikation of soils and - showed that some agrotechnical receptions promote optimization of parameters of fertility.

Great interest was attracted by the reports devoted to information functions of soils. M.-I. Dergacheva (IPA Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science, Novosibirsk) highlighted a possibility of Use of humic acids in studying a problem of relationship of the environment a Pleistocene-golotsenovogo of time and the person. As indicators of an ecological situation different parameters of group of companies, including IR spectrums and atomic ratios were used (N: 0, 0: With, N: C). Also V.A. Dyomkin's report with coauthors (Institute of physical and chemical and biological problems of soil science of RAS, Pushchipo) was devoted to information functions of soils. This group of authors considers stspnys the barrows which arose since 16th century BC as unique archive of development of soils and the environment in general. At a research complex methods, including microbiological were used. Existence of a climatic optimum is shown 600-800 years ago. Regulatory and information function of humic substances (along with accumulative, trophic, bioprotecting, etc.) was considered also in S.N. Chukov's (St.Petersburg State University) report. The speaker paid special attention to need to develop methodology of studying humic substances of soils, to create more perfect nomenclature of these substances, more widely to apply the nondestructive methods guaranteeing a nativnost of organic matter of the soil. 4 and. On March 5 there took place meetings of sections. On section "Soils and a biodiversity; regional problems of soil science..." JI. O. Karpachevsky (MSU) told about a variety of the structure of profiles of the soils which experienced at different times anthropogenic, zoogene and other biogenous violations (windfall) and ambiguity of prospects of their restoration in a different climatic situation. I.V. Sukhova with coauthors (MSU) considered changes of organic matter of the petropolluted peat soils. L.P. Voronina with coauthors (scientific research institute of D.N. Pryanishnikov, Belgorod) gave an assessment of an ecological condition of soils at introduction of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and offered the new device for biotesting of soils.

On section "A role of soils in stability of ecosystems." S.E. Batyrbekova with coauthors (Kazakh GU, Almaty) told monitoring, forecasting about results of comprehensive examination of the extensive territory which underwent space-rocket activity. - V.A. Semal and O.V. Nesterova (Biologo-pochvenny institute FEB RAS, Vladivostok) presented materials about the monitoring of a soil cover of the Ussuriysk reserve combining reference and rare soils and about soil formation on transition border the continent — the ocean. V.A. Lyzhin with coauthors (MSU) showed that the trend of change of content of organic matter in arable soils of Tula region for the last 20 years is a little noticeable against the background of spatial variation, variation in the last 10 years was reduced because of reduction of amount of fertilizers. D.N. Gabov with coauthors (Institute of biology of Komi NC Ouro RAHN, Syktyvkar) carried out the comparative analysis of composition of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soils of the technogenic broken territories. A.V. Nakaryakov with coauthors (Perm GU, IPA SO RAN) considered distribution of components of the gross chemical composition of soils on funds (fractions) differing with activity of participation in metabolism among these funds, "the bearing framework" (inert matrix), "a constructive framework" (for nitrogen and phosphorus corresponds to a share of these elements allocated on Ginzburg), "the fixed reserve" (colloidal passive) and others, more active, and stated methodology of their allocation. Ryzhova (MSU), by means of mathematical models showed that stability of soils of agrbeko-systems (without introduction of necessary amounts of fertilizers) is less, than natural. R.V. Desyatkin (Institute of biological problems of a kriolitozona of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science, Yakutsk) told about the recurrence of soil formation in thermokarst hollows connected with solar activity. Model year: Zolotarev (MSU) characterized parameters of biological circulation in the long-term natural and cultural phytocenosis created on bulk lysimeters of a hospital of MSU on the Lenin mountains. On the section "The Soil — a Unique Natural-historical Body" discussed the problems devoted to evolution of soils, features of some properties of soils, integration of cartographic and space methods of a research of a soil cover to geographic information systems, etc.

On the section "General Questions of Soil Science" besides the reports connected with environmental-genetic features of soil formation and degradation of soils heard reports on soil organic matter, various properties of humic substances and microbiological activity of soils.

to soil formation researches on sandy dumps of the Shapkinsky field of PGO (Tosnensky District of the Leningrad Region) and pits on extraction of sand of the Borovichi plant of a silicate brick (Novgorod region). By authors it was shown that entering of organic material into the top horizons of soils contributes to the active development of grassy vegetation, growth of pine landings, increase in maintenance of clay particles in the top horizons due to aeration of a mineral part of the soil, to an ostrukturivaniye of loose sandy material.

Mergelov's performance (Institute of geography of RAS, & Moscow) "A soil and vegetable cover and its the pyrogenic - transformation in pretundra thin forests of Kolyma Lowland" it was shown pyrogenesis — one of the major factors influencing soil formation and a biota of pretundra thin forests. So, on watersheds the ecosystems corresponding to various post-pyrogenic stages adjoin. The effect of fast increase at the fire of depth of thawing (more than for 100% for the first year) leads to a unique way of evolution of soils when soil formation quickly and for essential term joins underlying, & as a rule, ogleenny

In conclusions of the report of A.A. Shinkarev and A.A. Mishchenko (Kazan GU) "The research of mechanisms of sorption interaction of liquid organic pollutants with the soil" was said that for lack of moisture mineral a soil component — more active sorbent for the exogenous organic compounds (EOC), than soil organic matter; soil organic matter blocks the active sorption centers of clay minerals of the soil (therefore soils with high content of soil organic matter are characterized by smaller sorption activity); the mechanism of interaction of EOS with soil organic matter, diffusion and distribution of pollutant in a phase of an organic component; application of a fractal method allows to estimate the nature of interaction of soil organic matter with various EOS.

L.L. Avvakumova's Message (Samara state medical * the university) "Tire-tread function of humic acids of peloid in the conditions of an oxidizing stress" concerned a research of tire-tread effect of humic acids of peloid on population genetically, functionally and structurally diverse animal cages. The given experimental results demonstrated absence at gumino-& vy acids of toxicity in relation to the studied biosystems. Peloidopreparat authentically shows tire-tread action in extreme conditions for biosystems. Protective properties were more expressed in case of preventive use of such biologically active agent as humic acids.

On the basis of results & #34; researches which were stated by O.A. Paladich (GU ZNIISH Xievero-Wostuoka of N.V. Rudnitsky, Kirov) in work "Seasonal dynamics of some indicators of chemical properties of podsolic soils of a srednetayezhny subband", it is established that the most dynamic soil indicators are the content of mobile phosphorus and exchange potassium and also the size of exchange acidity; a little smaller scope of seasonal variation is noted at such parameters as content of labile organic compounds of the soil and size of exchange acidity (pHKCl). Content of the general organic carbon as a part of which an overwhelming part is occupied by carbon of conservative organic matter is subject to the smallest seasonal changes. All considered indicators varied during the vegetative season. Most brightly their dynamics is expressed in arable soils.

In work of E.V. Ivanova and E.S. During the entire period of work within the forum there took place the V All-Russian academic and research conference "The Place and Role of the Natural Science Museums in Ecological Education". The scientific program of a conference was created by the Organizing committee of the Darvinian state museum (Moscow) and was carried out on the basis of five museums of St. Petersburg: Central Museum of Soil Science of V.V. Dokuchayev, State Museum of the History of Religion, the Military-medical museum Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, Russian State Museum of Arctic and Antarctic and the museum of World of Water of St. Petersburg.

Reports were devoted to various aspects of creation of modern ecological expositions, ecological education and education of children on the basis of new museum technologies. the birth of this first-ever soil museum happened in close contact to the university. Also it is connected, first of all, with a name of professor of Sankt-Peterbur-& the gsky Imperial university Vasily Vasilyevich Dokuchayev. Yesterday we celebrated the 158th anniversary since the birth of this outstanding scientist, pride of the Russian science, the founder of the Russian and world soil science. Thanks to it the St. Petersburg university became the first-ever educational institution where began to train experts in the field of soil science and where the first-ever soil school of sciences arose. Within this school of sciences Central Museum of Soil Science which deservedly bears now a name of V.V. Dokuchayev also grew.

Dokuchayev defended the doctoral dissertation with short and surprisingly beautiful name "Russian Chernozem", thereby he in essence opened the new page of natural sciences, laid the foundation not only for soil science, but also the whole complex of new sciences — to theory of the biosphere, a landshaftovedeniye, ecology.

Joint expeditions, exchange of soil monoliths and scientific materials, joint scientific works and publications, participation of staff of the Museum in pedagogical process were always norm of our relations.

the Dokuchaievsk school of fundamental soil science of the St. Petersburg university — the united educational and pedagogical and research team which is the leader of soil researches in the Northwest of Russia. Now soil scientists of this school conduct wide-ranging studies on identification of the unique, needing special protection soils. On the basis of these researches the Red List of soils of the Leningrad Region and all Northwest of Russia, the name of the opening Forum will be created speaks about planetary value of soil science.

It is not only object of agriculture and the main source of production of food, but also the irreplaceable environment of dwelling more than 90% genetically of pá3H006pa3Hbix of types of living organisms. The soil considerably defines purity of surface and ground waters, regulates structure of ground layers of atmospheric air.

the Role and protection of the soil as main component of the surrounding environment, it has to be reflected in the separate law along with similar on other components of the biosphere: "About atmospheric air", "About water", "About fauna".

the Forum of soil scientists states crisis deterioration in a condition of a soil cover of Russia. Processes of degradation and pollution of soils go with an ever-increasing speed. Now the greatest damage to the Russian soils is caused by a wind and water erosion, chemical pollution and exhaustion batteries of plants, reconsolidation and an osolontsevaniye. There is a loss of farmlands in the course of mining; pollution and littering of the earth industrial and consumption waste, pollution by radionuclides. In the country there is no regulatory framework of an ecological and nature protection regulation of anthropogenic loads of land resources, there is no legal security of soils, in effect, as one of the main components of land ecosystems.
